    Central Province  Papua New Guinea (PNG)
Location
The Central Province is located in southern New Guinea. Prewar and during the Pacific War known as the Central District of the Territory of Papua. Today Central Province is part of Papua New Guinea (PNG). Divided into four districts: Goilala District, Kairuku Hiri District, Rigo District and Abau District. Central Province surrounds the National Capital District (NCD) that includes Port Moresby. Borders Gulf of Papua to the south, Milne Bay Province to the east, Oro Province (Northern Province) to the north and Gulf Province to the west.

Kairuku-Hiri District
Pyramid Point  located on the south coast at the western edge of Bootless Bay.
Morris Hill (Zero Hill)  feature near Bootless Bay.
Bootless Bay (Bootless Inlet)  located on the south coast to the east of Port Moresby.
Loloato Island  located off the south coast and the entrance to Bootless Bay.
Lion Island (Manu)  located off the south coast and the entrance to Bootless Bay.
Tubusereia  located on the south coast to the east of Port Moresby.
Gaile (Gaire)  located on the south coast to the southeast of Port Moresby.
Kapa Kapa Trail  spans from the south coast northward to Jaure.
Kapa Kapa (Gabagaba)  located on the south coast starting point of the Kapa Kapa Trail.
Karekodobu (Karekodobu, Kalikodobu)  inland village known as "Kalamazoo" by the Americans.
Roku (Raku)  located on the south coast to the west of Port Moresby.
Boera  located on the south coast includes Boera Point and Boera Head.
Rigo  located near the south coast to the east of Port Moresby.
Porebada (Borebada)  located to the west of Port Moresby.
Rorona (Rarona)  located to the west of Port Moresby includes 30 Mile Drome (Rogers Drome).
Redscar (Redscar Head)  located on the south coast to the northwest of Port Moresby.
Redscar Bay  borders the south coast includes Galley Reach and the mouth of the Vanapa River.
Varivari Island  located off the south coast northwest of Redscar.
Caution Bay  borders the south coast of New Guinea to the west of Boera.
Idiha Island  located off the south coast at the southern edge of Caution Bay west of Bavo Island.
Bavo Island  located off the south coast at the southern edge of Caution Bay west of Idiha Island.
Yule Island  located off the south coast near the border with Gulf Province.
Hisiu (Isiu, Hisu)  located on the south coast bordering Redscar Bay.
Galley Reach  located on the south coast near the Vanapa River.
Lea Lea (Lealea)  located to the northwest of Port Moresby.
Edebu  inland village near the Brown River to the north of Port Moresby.
Sogeri Road (Rouna Road, Snake Road)  road connecting Port Moresby to Sogeri.
Rouna (Rouna Falls)  waterfall on the Laloki River halfway along the Sogeri Road.
Hombrom Bluff (Hombrom's Bluff)  prominent rock outcropping to the east of Port Moresby.
Sogeri (Sogeni)  located in the foothills of the Owen Stanley Range.
Varirata National Park  located in the Astrolabe Range to the east of Sogeri overlooking Port Moresby.
Catalina  located to the east of Sogeri.
Sirinumu  located to the west of Sogeri includes Sirinumu Dam (Sirinumu Reservoir, Sirinumu Lake).
Mimia (Mimai)  located in the Owen Stanley Range.
Bina (Piunga)  located inland from the southern coast.

Goilala District
Tapini  located in the Owen Stanley Range near near Mount Strong (Mt. Strong).
Kosipe  located to the west of Mount Albert Edward.
Woitape  located to the west of Mount Albert Edward.

Rigo District
Kwikila  inland village and district capital.
Rigo  located near the south coast, east of Port Moresby.
Hood Point  located on the south coast borders Hood Bay to the east.
Hula  located on Hood Point.
Hood Bay  borders Hood Point to the west.
Keppel Point  located to the east of Hood Point and Hood Bay.

Abau District
Abau Island  located off the south coast.
Kupiano  located on the south coast between Hula and Abau.
Baibara Island  located off the south coast near the border with Milne Bay Province.
Table Bay  located on the south coast.
Doba (Deba)  located on the south coast borders Table Bay.

Owen Stanley Range Central Province Locations
Owen Stanley Range (Owen Stanley Mountains)  mountain range in the southeastern portion of New Guinea.
Mount Victoria (Mt. Victoria)  elevation 13,248' / 4,038m highest peak in the Owen Stanley Range.
Mount Thumb (Mt. Thumb)  elevation 9,544' / 2,909m in the Owen Stanley Range.
Mount Yule (Mt. Yule)  elevation 7,904' / 2,409m in the Owen Stanley Range.
Mount Obree (Mt. Obree)  elevation 11,205' / 3,415m in the Owen Stanley Range.
Mount Kenevi (Mt. Kenevi)  elevation 7,904' / 2,409m in the Owen Stanley Range.
Mount Albert Edward (Mt. Albert Edward)  elevation 13,091' / 3,990m in the Owen Stanley Range.
Mount Scratchley (Mt. Scratchley)  elevation 11,267' / 3,434m in the Owen Stanley Range.
Mount Bellamy (Mt. Bellamy)  elevation 7,400 ' / 2,250m in the Owen Stanley Range.
Kokoda Gap (The Kokoda Gap)  located in the Owen Stanley Range in New Guinea.
Kagi Gap (The Kagi Gap)  located to the north of Myola in the Owen Stanley Range in New Guinea.
Mount Chamberlain  (Mt. Chamberlain)  elevation 11,329' / 3,453m in the Owen Stanley Range.
Bodinumu  located to the west of Kagi.
Daoi  located to the west of Kagi.
Kerau  prewar Catholic mission near Mount Yule.
Boridi  located in the Owen Stanley Range near Mount Victoria.
Kurama (Dode)  located in the Owen Stanley Range near English Peaks.

Kokoda Trail (Kokoda Track) Central Province Locations
Kokoda Trail (Kokoda Track)  walking trail spanning from Owers' Corner northward to Kokoda in Oro Province.
