Background
On August 21, 1917 organized as the 93d Aero Squadron in the U.S. Army. On March 31, 1919 demobilized. On March 1, 1935 constituted as 93rd Bombardment Squadron (93rd BS) in the U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAC). During 1936 reconstituted and consolidated. On October 20, 1939 redesignated 93rd Bombardment Squadron (Heavy). On June 20, 1941 became part of the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF).

Wartime History
During December 1941, the 93rd Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) was based at Clark Field on Luzon. On December 19, 1941 the air echelon withdraws to Batchelor Field near Darwin in Australia. The ground echelon remains and is attached to the 5th Interceptor Command (Provisional) and will fight as infantry on Bataan Peninsula on Luzon and Mindanao.

On October 25, 1942 the squadrons begins a movement from Mareeba Airfield back to the United States.
