Location Lat 16.81157 Long 96.13381 Rangoon War Cemetery is located between Myienegone and Manthawaddy roundabout (close to the circle) and at the back of Burma Translation Society (Sarbaybeikmann) in Rangoon. Wartime History Rangoon War Cemetery was first used as a burial ground after the recapture of Rangoon in early May 1945. American Graves Registration Service (AGRS) consolidated U.S. burials from other locations to this cemetery. Postwar, the U.S. graves were exhumed including American Prionsers Of War (POW) who died in captivity at Rangoon Prison (Rangoon Jail, Rangoon Centeral Jail) and transported to the United States for permenant burial.
