The book explores his childhood, early life and service in the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) and his World War II service including his death as a passenger aboard G4M1 Betty 2656 Tail 323 that was shot down by P-38 Lightnings and crashed in southern Bougainville, killing everyone aboard.
