ALASKA (Eleventh Air Force): A B-24 photographs a beached freighter at Holtz
Bay on Attu drawing no AA fire
during ten runs over the bay, and flies reconnaissance over Kiska. Lost is P-38E Lightning 41-2276 pilot 1st Lt. Kenneth W. Ambrose on a ferry flight from Alaska to Washington.
(CBI) THEATER OF OPERATIONS (Tenth Air Force): CHINA AIR TASK FORCE (CATF):
In China, the detachment of the 11th Bombardment Squadron (Medium), 341st Bombardment
Group (Medium), operating from Nanning with B-25s, returns to base at Kunming (another detachment is operating from Karachi).
SOUTHWEST PACIFIC AREA (SWPA, Fifth Air Force): B-26s bomb Lae Airfield and Buna Airfield;
elements of the 126th Infantry Regiment, US 32d Infantry Division arrive on
the Sanananda front from Wairopi. Crash landed is F-4 "Fainting Floozie II" 41-2123 (KIA).
IJN: Lost is HA-10 Type A Midget Submarine (missing).
