Aircraft History Built by North American Aviation (NAA). Constructors Number 87-8243. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25D-5 Mitchell serial number 41-30078. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field to Australia. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 345th Bombardment Group (345th BG), 501st Bombardment Squadron (501st BS). Nicknamed "The Eager Beaver" with the nose art of a beaver. This B-25 flew at least 60+ combat missions with a scoreboard of bombs indicating bombing missions flown plus three silhouettes of Japanese fighters claimed by gunners. Mission History On August 28, 1944 ditched into the sea southeast of Mokmer Drome on Biak Island.
