The five Sullivan brothers in uniform aboard USS Juneau CL-52 during the commissioning ceremony at New York Navy Yard
(Left to right) S2c Madison A. Sullivan and GM2c George T. Sullivan.
The five brothers went Missing In Action (MIA) during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal November 13, 1942 in the sinking and at sea afterwards. This was the greatest military loss by any one American family, and their death caused the U.S. Navy to revise the policy about having brothers serve on the same ship.
