They're Killing My Boys
The History of Hickam Field and the Attacks of 7 December 1941

This book details the history of Hickam Field the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) military airfield adjacent to Pearl Harbor on Oahu in Hawaii. The authors of "They're Killing my Boys" present a detailed narrative of the prewar history of the airfield plus a minute by minute account of the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941 with an incredible depth of information about the damage sustained and aircraft destroyed on the ground.

The book begins with the prewar history of Hickam Field before the land was purchased by the U.S. Government and the initial construction efforts to build a modern airfield at this strategic location.

The story of events leading up to the Japanese attack are generally known to everyone but this book delves deep into every facet of the attack including the aircraft parked on the ground and the inbound formation of B-17 Flying Fortresses from Hamilton Field that arrived while the attack was in progress. The book's coverage of events related to December 7, 1941 is the most detailed of any published work on this subject and incorporates the authors detailed research and analysis of Japanese and American and presents the definitive story of events at Hickam Field before, during and after the day of infamy. Finally, the book also covers the immediate search efforts to use surviving bombers to search for the Japanese carrier force and patrol the Pacific Ocean area.

Nearly every page of They're Killing my Boys" is lavishly illustrated with period photographs of the people and places described, including personnel photographs of the Americans who served at Hickam or piloted aircraft plus photographs of attacking Japanese pilots.

This book is the third volume of the Pearl Harbor Tactical Studies that includes:
