Built at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in Philadelphia, PA. Laid down on January 25, 1941. Launched on December 7, 1943. Commissioned on April 16 1944 with Captain Earl E. Stone in command.

Wartime History
During February 1945, participated in the bombarding Iwo Jima in support of the U. S. Marine Corps landing.

Today
Displayed at the Battleship Museum USS Wisconsin in Norfolk, Virginia.
