Location Wartime History PT Boats from this base patrolled against Shortland and Bougainville during December 1943 - May 1944. Later in 1944 after combat operations slackened, this base was used for "combat training" by three PT Boat Squadrons, making nightly patrols on bypassed area on Bougainville and Choiseul, but rarely encountered enemy barges. Later, the 87th Seabees had a boat "Misseabee", traded with YOGL-42 for an engine that was used for transport around the area, fishing trips and tours.
