Location Dreger Harbor PT Boat Base (Dreger Haffen Harbor PT Boat Base) is located at Dregerhaffen Harbor (Dreger Harbor) south of Finschhafen (Finschafen, Finschaven) on the north coast of New Guinea. Also known as "Dreger PT Boat Base". Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Territory of New Guinea. Today located in Morobe Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Construction By late September 1943 when then Australian Army liberated the Finschhafen area, Dreger Harbor was developed into a U.S. Navy (USN) base for Motor Torpedo Boats (PT-Boats) and completed by November 1943. Wartime History Dreger Harbor PT Boat Base (Dreger Haffen Harbor) and replaced Morobe PT Boat Base as the most forward base to the Japanese. During late 1943 until the middle of June 1944 used for patrols up the north coast of New Guinea and across the Huon Gulf to West New Britain. Used by Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron Twelve (MTBRon 12) including PT-190 and PT-191. Also used by Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 24 (MTBRon 24) including PT-337.
