Ship History MV Olvira was a 60' launch with two masts, and diesel-powered engine. Prewar used by the Australian government as a coastal launch operating in the Territory of Papua. Wartime History On May 5, 1942 at Tufi embarks seven American airmen: Ford, Disbro, Ashley, Roberts, Long, Loranger and Oclis the crew of B-26 Marauder 40-1418 that force landed April 11, 1942. Two days later, Olvira arrives at Wygani where the passengers disembarked to await another vessel. Ultimate fate unknown. References Also known as "The Olvira".
