A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption

From the author of Seabiscuit: An American Legend, Laura Hillenbrand's second book tells the story of Louie Zamperini who was a runner in the 1936 Olympics and crew member on a B-24 Liberators in the Pacific Theater.

On May 27, 1943 he was the bombardier aboard B-24D "Green Hornet" that crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Zamperini survived an ordeal at sea and as a prisoner of the Japanese. In 2014, the Hollywood movie Unbroken (2014) directed by Angelina Jolie was released.
