Eighty Three Years of Memories 1905-1988
This is the unpublished memories of Allan Champion who servied in New Guinea prewar and was stationed at serving as the Resident Magistrate at Buna Government Station. During 1942, he aided the crew of B-17E Flying Fortress 41-2446 (aka "Swamp Ghost") having
them stay with him at Buna, and assisted them attempting to walk over
the Owen Staneley Mountains back to Port Moresby. When that failed
arranged boat transport around the coast. Also, he experienced the Japanese landing on the north coast. He retired to Australia and died during 1988.
