Bataan-Corregidor Memorial

Since 1981, the Filipino community in Florida raised funds via the Bataan-Corregidor Memorial Foundation, Incorporated to build a memorial in Florida to honors the American and Filipino soldiers and civilians of World War II. The Bataan-Corregidor Memorial features a statue by Sandra Storm depicting an American and Filipino soldier supporting each other during the Bataan Death March while a Filipino women offers them a cup of water as they pass. On September 28, 2002, the memorial was officially unveiled to the community and to veterans of Wordl War II, including members of the American Defenders of Bataan - Corregidor (Florida Chapter) and Mr. Ponciano Olayta, a Philippine Army Bataan Death March Survivor, who lives in Florida.
