Texas is located at the center of the United States bordering Louisiana to the east, Arkansas to the northeast, Oklahoma to the north, New Mexico to the west, and the Mexican to the south and the Gulf of Mexico is to the southeast.
Prewar and during World War II, Texas was the site of many important military airfields, installations and factories supporting the defense industry.
