Location
The Timor Sea borders Timor Island including Indonesia and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (East Timor) to the north and the Northern Territory in Australia to the south.
Wartime History
On February 19, 1942 the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) First Carrier Division including Kaga and the Second Carrier Division, from a point 100 nautical miles southeast of the eastern tip of Timor launch carrier aircraft on a strike against Darwin.
