Bay is located on the western edge of Fauro Island in the Fauro Island Group (Fauro Islands) of Western Province in Solomon Islands.

Bay is Mabuu Island and Baobi Island.
Further to the west is Asie Island. Most of the bordering shoreline is fringed by coral reef. Bohea Point is located at the southern end of the bay.
This vessel was sunk by Allied aircraft. The shipwreck is reportedly at
a depth of 50m and often leaks traces of oil. According to local people, after it sank food washed ashore.
Gareth Coleman adds:
"A big transport is sunk in Kavakava Bay. I have since confirmed
this ship and have spoken to the only person who has dived it. Its chocka full of
equipment and has eight cargo holds."
