Location The Fife Bay District is located on the southern coast of New Guinea and includes Fife Bay, Eagle Point and Mullins Harbor. Prewar and during the Pacific War, located in the Territory of Papua. Today, the Fife Bay District is part of Milne Bay Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Prewar Fife Bay was the colonial headquarters of the district, and site of the present day town bordering Fife Bay. Wartime History During World War II, ANGAU controlled the Fife Bay area. In early 1942 ANGAU officer Captain "Mac" Rich was based in the area. In late April 1942, he aided the survivors of B-25 Mitchells that ditched and crashed in the vicinity and helped them to reach Milne Bay to return to duty. Contribute
