Location Lat -4°4'20.35" S Long 153°37'57.03" E The Feni Island Group (Feni Islands) is located to the east of New Ireland. Today located in Tanir Rural LLG in New Ireland Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wartime History During early 1944, some Japanese forces withdrawing from Nissan Island (Green Island) reached in the Feni Islands. Ambitle Island Active volcano and largest Island in the Feni Island Group (Feni Islands). Babase Island Extinct volcano is located in the Feni Island Group (Feni Islands). Trevor Grigson adds: "I worked on Feni Island off the east coast of New Ireland and the locals told me there was a wreck of a Japanese plane on the island.
