Eleanora Bay is located on the north coast of New Britain. Bordering Linga Linga Plantation.
Linga Linga Plantation was established on the coast bordering Eleanora Bay.
After the American landing at Cape Gloucester, remaining Japanese forces retreated along the coast past Eleanora Bay. On February 21, 1944 (5th AF) B-24s bomb Eleonora Bay. On March 11, 1944, the 1st Battalion, 5th Regiment
made an unopposed landing at Linga Linga Plantation on Eleanora Bay
and after a number of successful skirmishes with enemy stragglers. On March 18, 1944, the Marines returned
to Cape Gloucester.
