Douglas Harbor Oro Province Papua New Guinea (PNG)

Location
Douglas Harbor is located to the east of Cape Ward Hunt.

Wartime History
Douglas Harbor is located to the east of Cape Ward Hunt. On March 24, 1943 PT 142 scouted the harbor, found it unoccupied and suitable for use as a PT Boat base. The SS Masaya was bound to unload supplies and troops for this base, but was sunk March 28, 1943 before it arrived.  The sinking and lack of supplies set back PT Boat operations for a month. On April 8, 1943 PT 114 scouted Morobe Harbor and found it suitable and a more forward location for a new PT Boat base. Afterwards, further development of Douglas Harbor ceased.
