Location
Lat 40° 28' 57N Long 127° 6' 58E  Yudam-ni (Yudam village) is located at an elevation of at 3,559' above sea level to the west of the Chosin Reservoir (Changjin) in South Hamgyŏng Province 함경남도 in Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). In Korean 리,류담리. Also spelled Ryutan-ri, Ryŭtan-ri,-ni.

Korean War History
During the Korean War, Yudam-ni was occupied by the United States Marine Coprs 5th Marines and 7th Marines (less). Surrounded by Chinese Army forces, during the night of November 27 until the morning of November 29, attached by the 79th Division and 80th Division forcing the Marines to withdraw to Hagaru-ri.
