Location
North Iwo Jima is the northernmost island of the Volcano Islands Group of the Ogasawara Islands. North Iwo Jima is located 80 km north of Iwo Jima (Iwo To), 1170 km south of Tokyo and 207 km south-southwest of Chi Chi Jima.

Wartime History
North Iwo Jima was first occupied by settlers from the Izu Islands starting in 1889 who established Ishinomura (east) and Nishimura (west).
