| Location Lat 35° 36' 0N Long 140° 7' 0E Chiba is located at an elevation of 6' / 1m above sea level on the northern edge of the Bōsō Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture in the Kantō Region of Honshū in Japan. In Japanese, Chiba means "thousand leaves". Borders Tokyo Bay and Tokyo to the west. Today known as Chiba City and is the provincial capital of Chiba Prefecture.
