Yokosuka is located on the western edge of Tokyo Bay approximately
of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo and two miles north of the Yokosuka
Yokosuka Naval Base was an important Navy Yard, Yokosuka Arsenal and Yokosuka Naval Air Factory. During 1944-1945, Yokosuka was one of the key stations for the defense of the Tokyo area. On August 30, 1945 US Marines landed at Yokosuka Naval Base, along with the US Army 11th Airborne Division that landed at Atsugi Airfield beginning the American occupation of Japan.

Naval Air Factory

south and southwest of the seaplane
base. The factory has about 50 buildings. The Naval Air Station,
which adjoins the Tokyo Bay defense system, is subject ot frequent
especially in winter. A second air field has
been reported in this vicinity, but its exact location is not known.
