Tokyo Bay borders Tokyo to the north and Chiba Prefecture to the east.
During the war, Tokyo Bay was an important maritime port and anchorage for the Japanese Navy and merchant shipping. On August 27, 1945 US Navy and Allied warships anchored in Tokyo Bay. On September 2, 1945 the official surrender of Japan took place aboard USS Missouri BB-63.
