Location
Lat 32° 45' 18N Long 129° 52' 6E.  Nagasaki is located in Nagasaki Prefecture in Kyūshū Island in Japan. Nagasaki is the largest city and prefecture capital.

Wartime History
Nagasaki was an important wartime city with the Mitsubishi Nagasaki Shipyard. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, six Chinese May 20, 1938 TB-3 bombers overflew Nagasaki and photographed Battleship Musashi under construction. During the Pacific War, attacked by American aircraft during 1944 until August 9, 1945.

On August 9, 1945 the second and last atomic bomb "Fat Man" was dropped by B-29 "Bockscar" 44-27297 from 28,900' at 1058 hours local time and explodes about a minute after release. Japanese reports claim nearly 24,000 killed; US figures estimate about 35,000.
