Lat 24° 20' 41N Long 124° 9' 26E  Ishigaki City is located at the southwestern corner of Ishigaki Island in the Yaeyama Islands (Yaeyama Island Group) in the Sakishima Islands in the Okinawa Prefecture in Japan.

Wartime History
During World War II, many residents of Ishigaki were forcibly made to take refuge on Iriomote Island.

Ishigaki Airfield (Old Ishigaki Airport)
Built during late 1942 or 1943 using Korean laborers. In 1956 reopened as Ishigaki Airport and used as a civilian airport until the New Ishigaki Airport was opened in 2013 and this airport was closed.
