Waigeo Island is rougly 70 miles long and 30 miles wide. Located about 40 miles northwest of the Vogelkop Peninsula at the western tip of New Guinea. Borders Fofak Harbor (Offak Harbor, Teluk Fofak).

Wartime History
During World War I, German Raider SMS Wolf (Wolf IV) and captured vessel SS Matunga arrived at Offak Bay (Fofak Bay) where the vessel was stripped and scuttled offshore.
