Location
Lat 3° 37' 60S Long 133° 40' 60E  Utarom village is located on the southern coast of western New Guinea. Borders Kamrau Bay and Kaimana. Also known as Utarom, Oerarom, Urarom or Rome.

Wartime History
During early 1942, occupied by the Japanese during their occupation of Dutch New Guinea (DNG) and built Kaimana Airfield (Utarom Airfield) at this location. During 1944, attacked by Allied aircraft. Occupied by the Japanese until the official surrender of Japan in September 1945.
