    Salawati Island (Pulau Salawati) West Papua Indonesia

Salawati Island is part of the Raja Ampat Islands, separated from New Guinea by the Sele Strait (Galowa Strait, Revenges Strait) and separated from Batanta Island by the Pitt Strait (Sagewin Strait). To the northeast is Jefman Island. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Dutch New Guinea (DNG) in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today, located in the Raja Ampat Regency in West Papua Province (West Irian Jaya) of Indonesia.

Lat 0° 58' 0S Long 131° 4' 0E Samate is located at the northeastern tip of Salawati Island.
