Location East Nusa Tenggara includes includes West Timor (Timor Barat) and part of the Lesser Sunda Islands (Lesser Sundas). Known as Nusa Tenggara Timur in Indonesia. Prewar and during World War II part of the Netherlands East Indies (NEI) a Dutch colony. Today part of Indonesia and includes over five hundred islands sub divided into 21 Regency and Regency-level city Kupang (Koepang) the provincial capital and largest city. Borders the Indian Ocean to the south and Flores Sea in the north. East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur) Locations West Timor (Timor Barat) encompasses the western half of Timor Island. Koepang (Kupang) located on the southwest of Timor Island, provincial capital and largest city. Atamboea (Atamboea, Atamboewa) located at the center of Timor Island includes Atamboea Airfield (Haliwen). Poeloeti (Penfoei, Penfui) located on the southwest coast of Timor Island. Oesaoe (Oesau) located on the southwest coast of Timor Island includes Oesaoe Airfield. Kolbano (Kolbane) located on the southern coast of Timor Island.
