Allied missions against Port Blair
April 2, 1942–April 15, 1944

April 2, 1942
(10th AF) Major General Lewis H. Brereton, Commanding General 10th Air Force, leads three B-17's on a raid on shipping in the Andaman Islands during the night of 2/3 Apr; they claim hits on 1 cruiser and a transport; two B-17's are damaged by AA and fighters, but all return to base.

November 30, 1942
(10th AF) B-24s attack shipping off Port Blair claiming damage to one vessel by near misses; this strike begins a series of raids on this water approach to Burma.

December 11, 1942
(10th AF) B-24s of the India Air Task Force attack shipping at Port Blair, with negative results.

December 12, 1943
(RAF) Photographic reconassiance of Port Blair Airfield show five medium single engine aircraft of an unidentified type, concluded to be Type 96 Torpedo Bomber code named Jean (Yokosuka B4Y). Also present was a single Ki-21 Sally, three or four B5N Kates plus ten other aircraft including eight A6M Zeros. April 15, 1944
(10th AF) Twelve B-24s over the Andaman Islands attack shipping and other targets at Port Blair.
