Diamond Head is a volcanic tuff cone located on the southern coast of Oahu. To the northwest is Honolulu. The iconic profile of Diamond Head is visible from nearly every location on southern Oahu.

Along the trail to the peak of Diamond Head are several wartime bunkers and emplacements, these fortifications were never used and built prior to the war in anticipation of a a landing or shore bombardment. These positions were occupied throughout the war, then abandoned.
