    Hankow (Hankou) Hubei Province China

Located on the northwest bank of the Yangtze River north of the Hanshui River are Hankow (Hankou) and Hanyang (漢陽) on the west bank of the Yangtze south of Hankow and the Hanshui River. On the southeastern bank of the Yangtze River, opposite the mouth of the Han River is Wuchang. Prewar, connected by the Pinghan railroad connecting Hankow to Peking (Bejing).

Wartime History
Occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War.

American missions against Hankow
July 1, 1942 - August 2, 1945

During 1949 the three cities: Wuchang, Hankow (Hankou) and Hanyang merged to form Wuhan.
