Located on Xiamen Island (Amoy Island) on the southeast coast of China, bordering the Taiwan Strait. In Chinese, Amoy means "High Ridge" Known to the Japanese as "Takasaki" (High Ridge).
During the Second Sino-Japanese War, occupied by the Japanese during May 1938. Occupied by the Japanese Army until the end of World War II.
