    Indaw Sagaing Division Burma (Myanmar)

Location
Lat 23° 39' 35N Long 94° 46' 30E  Indaw is located in Katha District, Sagaing Division in the north of Burma (Myanmar). To the northwest is Indaw Lake. A rail road junction at Naba is located about 6 kilometers to the northeast of the town, connecting to Myitkina.

Wartime History
During the Pacific War, the Japanese Army occupied the area and developed two airfields in the area.

During the night of March 4-5, 1944, about 50 miles northeast of Indaw USAAF Air Commando gliders and aircraft commanded by Colonel Philip G Cochran drop US Army engineers followed British Army long-range penetration troops commanded by Major General Orde C. Wingate into the area to cut Japanese lines of communication in central Burma. The landing zones were named White City, Blackpool and Broadway.
