Jakohina is located on the southern coast of Bougainville Island. Also known as Jakohina Mission or Buin Mission. To the southwest is Kangu and Kangu Hill (Mount Buin) and Malabeta Hill (Malabita) and beyond Moila Point. To the northeast is Lamuai and Kahili (Buin). During the Pacific War, the Japanese referred to this area of the southern coast as "Buin". Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the Northern Solomons. Today located in the Buin Rural LLG, Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

The Catholic church established Jakohina mission at this location for missionary activities with a church. Afterwards, a government station was established at this same location to administer the area.

Wartime History
Occupied by the Japanese during early 1942. During the Pacific War, the mission was destroyed by American bombing missions against the area when air raids began in 1943 until the end of 1944.

Postwar, neither the mission or government station were rebuilt at this location. Instead both were rebuilt at Buin (Buin Town).
