November 11, 1943
(13th AF) A few B-25's and USN F4U's strafe barges and shore installations in Matchin Bay.

November 12, 1943
(13th AF) Six B-25s bomb the Matchin Bay area

November 19, 1943
(13th AF) Ten B-25's bomb the Matchin Bay area

December 27, 1943
(USN, USMC) F4U Corsair piloted by Lt Means while part of a formation bound for Rabaul spotted a friendly plane down in Matchin Bay and aborted the mission to report and circle the aviator until he was rescued by PBY Catalina arrived to rescue the pilot.
