Location
Lat 24° 51' 53S Long 151° 7' 19E  Monto is located at an elevation of 967' / 294m in central Queensland in Australia.

Italian POW Camp
During World War II, a POW camp was established at Monto for civilians of Italian and German decent from the area, who were interned here. Today, only the cooking area remains.

Kroombit Tops
The Kroombit Tops area is today part of the Kroombit Tops National Park located to the northwest of Monto.

McGlaughland Property / Yarrol
Located on private property, on the border between Monto and Yarrol, also known as "Magpie". The landowner and rancher Jeff McGlaughland keeps a visitor log of people who come to visit the C-47 wreck since 1980. The graves of those aboard are in Bundaberg. A propeller from the C-47 is displayed at the Monto RSL.
