by The National Kashmir Giru September 10, 2001
A LEGACY of the world wars exploded and killed
a woman while she was working on her garden in Cape Gloucester, West New Britain last Friday.
According to a relative interviewed at Kimbe hospital, the woman,
Shoppie Soli, 36, had made a fire and was clearing more space
for planting, when the bomb exploded.
The relative said that other gardeners who heard
the explosion went to the scene and found her dying. She was taken
to Gloucester health centre for first aid treatment before being
transported to Kimbe by outboard motor. She died on the way. Her
body is at the hospital mortuary. Ms Soli, originally from Amngen
Island Kandrain, West New Britain, was married to a man from Kilenge
Cape Gloucester. She had one child.
