Background
The Japanese 76.2mm anti-aircraft gun Type 3 (1914) was the principal Japanese Navy anti-aircraft and Infantry support gun. Also known as a 76.2mm Naval Gun Type 3 (1914). The Japanese refereed to this naval gun as an 8cm high angle gun. Also known as Navy dual-purpose gun (improved). This gun was based on a British Armstrong gun design Used on many smaller ships and cruisers built prior to World War II. Originally designed as a shipboard weapon, and was widely used in land based emplacements. Inferior to the Army 75mm Anti-Aircraft Gun and Navy 120mm dual purpose gun in range and firepower.
