Gun History Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as 14cm/50 3rd Year Type Naval Gun / 140mm Naval Gun Type III serial number unknown. Transported to Kangu Beach on southern Bougainville. Wartime History One of two guns emplaced furthest to the west at Kangu Beach on southern Bougainville. To the east is 140mm Naval Gun Type III (No. 1). Today The gun still remains in situ today. Stephen Turner visited in 1985: "The projectiles were still stacked adjacent to the gun, but all of the brass casings had been removed and taken for scrap earlier."
