American losses over Borneo

Post by DavidAmsterdam »

Hi Everybody,

I'm looking for information about American aircraft lost over Borneo in 1944/1945. Does anyone know where I can find a list with aircraft numbers and crew-names?

- I'm doing research in preparation of a trip to Borneo, Indonesia. My Dutch grandmother told me about an American pilot she was imprisoned with, probably in the town of Bandjermasin in 1944. I'm trying to figure out the whole story, so I would be very glad with any tips/information/etc!

Regards

David,

Try the ADF.com RAAF Serials Series 2 website under the A72- numbers. That will give you the RAAF B-24 aircraft histories and their losses. Also try the 380th Bomb Group USAAF site or get a copy of Glenn Horton's book, The Best in the Southwest. That has a rundown on the group's B-24s and their losses.

If that doesn't work email me at bo.balford@hotmail.com
