43 Squadron RAAF Info

Post by Manila »

I am looking for information of a raid this Squadron did in 1944. I have exhausted all avenue's I can via the internet, TROVE, NAA, AWM, books and articles etc however these do not go into sufficient depth nor cover what I am looking for.
I am after pilots de-brief reports, mission reports, radio calls made etc.
Who, if this information still exists, would have this?
I will make a trip to Canberra for this info so need to plan ahead.

Hi there,

Sounds very interesting...

Almost certain TROVE would have nothing. Theses documents - if they still exist - would probably either be held by NAA or AWM, though only a basic reference may appear online.

I'm assuming you've already checked the squadron ORB (diary) which should be available online through the NAA website. These often have appendices, so the information you are looking for may be included there (but perhaps not in date order).

I'll have a bit of a look and ask around to see what I might be able to find. I too would be interested in locating such documents.

Cheers,

You have to love the NAA sometimes with the content on there.

Gents,
Thanks.
Daniel, Trove offers good info however the Squadron Diary available online does not cover much at all, in fact only a passing reference to the missing Catalina.
Gordy, good info, I am off to Australia next week and will try to get to Canberra to look at what you suggest.
Cheers
Tony
