Lockheed Hudson A16-112

A16-211 survived Milne Bay and received a complete overhaul before transferring to No.2 Squadron flying out of Millingimbi in the Northern Territory. Together with four other Hudsons, A16-211 carried out an armed reconnaissance to Maikor and Taberfane (both Japanese floatplane bases) in the Aru Islands on 7th May 1943. On returning to Millingimbi A16-211s undercarriage gave way and the aircraft ground looped. It was severely damaged and was converted to components. The remains of this aircraft are still at Millingimbi to this day.

Evening,

Which Hudson are you quoting? Heading is A16-112 but content is A16-211

I've decided to flesh out both for the teased readers

On this mission, the formation of five Hudsons (A16-171/199/211/219/233) were intercepted by two Japanese Rufes who shot down A16-171 with its bomb load. Three of the aircraft jettison their bombs, but not A16-211.The aircraft made a heavy landing (with bombs aboard) and on the third "bounce", the under carriage collapsed on landing at Millingimbi.Crew F/O Hornsby, F/O Kidman, P/O Williams, F/Sgt Lye, and Sgt Luxton were not injured. Converted to components.SOC 17/07/43. Picture exists of A16-211 being stripped for parts.

The sublimed truth is that A16-112 is painted up as A16-211 isn't it :)

Saw this aircraft last year and I must say in one word, "Brillant"

So both are applicable, per survivor with the vanished paint scheme and markings

Saw her fly for the first time in September just gone. She's my favourite aircraft in the Temora collection. Oh to see her fly with a Boston, Beaufort or, dare I say it, Beaufighter. Love the twins.
