HMAS 'King Bay' (AV 708) reference to salvage of flying boat
Hi Daniel Thanks for your response. From an interview with Claude Choules in 2003 (WWII RAN demolitions expert), it has been determined that 'King Bay' was in Broome from December 1942 until February 1943. No ship's logs have survived or reached archives for this period. Finding these logs would be ...

HMAS 'King Bay' (AV 708) reference to salvage of flying boat
Dear all I am seeking a reference to HMAS 'King Bay' having been in Broome, Western Australia, in 1942/43. The vessel was reported to have been there to salvage the 3 March 1942 flying boat wrecks. This salvage history of the vessel is mentioned in the website below: http://users.chariot.net.au/~len...

Hi Anthony Perhaps I'm getting confused here, but there was a B-24A Liberator called 'Arabian Nights' (serial No. 40-2370) lost off Cable Beach, Broome on 3 March 1942. This is in the Indian Ocean, not Pacific. Furthermore, approximately 33 people were killed when the aircraft was shot down by a Zer...

The arrival of the second USS 'Quail' in Australian waters is apparently captured in a photograph. See below text: ?The last men out of Corregidor. Corregidor was the last ditch. Bataan had fallen on the 8th of April, and American Forces put Cebu to the torch. In the last hours there was nothing for...

US Navy Kingfisher wreck site salvage history - W.A.
Hi all I'm seeking information on a US Navy Patrol Wing Ten (Fleet Wing Ten?) Kingfisher crash at Cape Range National Park, Western Australia. The seaplane (Vought-Sikorsky OS2U-3 Kingfisher) crashed about 20 kms from Pot Shot on 17 May 1943. Both of the aircraft's crew were killed. Not much remains...
