Cruiser: The Life And Loss Of HMAS Perth And Her Crew
A new book by Mike Carlton. Here's a link and the blurb from that link. For the Australian members of this forum I don't think I've seen this cheaper than A$45 online. However, I bought my hardback copy from Big W for $29.95! Here's hoping it sells well. The last book on Perth I remember being widel...

Re: What Pacific based book are you reading at the moment?
It's a good book, Richard, and thanks for reminding me about it. I remember reading certain sections with a lump in my throat. Read it in 1999 (time to read it again) when I lived in Bunbury. The cover, with the helicopter hovering off a cliff ledge on which lies the wreck of a B-25, is very dramati...

Australians in 19th BG
I've been trying to remember where I've seen reference to RAAF personnel flying with 19th BG crews or even just serving with the unit. It's driving me nuts not being able to remember. Can anyone provide me with a few references/books etc where I can find this info please? Put me out of my misery as ...

It is a good book. I picked mine up for just over A$30 from Big W. Kmart will have similar pricing.
Was thinking the same thing about a Centaur book. They would make a nice pair. I wonder if anyone's going to start talking Montevideo Maru now?

Re: QANTAS Catalina on the way
Finally got to see a Cat flying when the HARS one visited Temora recently. Really hit home just how slow and long the RAAF mining trips were. Here's some average pics on a very hot and heat shimmery day: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e242/Andyinwestoz617/Temora30-310110281.jpg http://i40.photobu...

That's a sad thing to read but good on you Rosie for taking an interest.Truth be told it seems I'm the only one with a hand in the project that's really interested in the authenticity of the restoration and the identity of the original aircraft

This might not jump out immediately as being Pacific-based but they were posted to Australia towards the end of the war for deployment in the Pacific against shipping.

Thanks, John. As someone who is currently contemplating another bookshelf due to filling up the existing ones, I've delayed the decision somewhat by removing a few trade paperbacks I know I don't need.

How do you find the Kindle, John? I can't bring myself to stare at a screen to read a book - have to turn and feel the pages. Sad, I know.
