Re: Aircraft Showcase - Pacific Theatre: Temora Aviation Mus
Sure is, Darryl. There's probably an entry on Pacific Ghosts but here's the website - http://www.beaufortrestoration.com.au/index.html I did some work on her in 2001 but don't recall any talk of the trip but then I was just doing slave labour and not in the know. Quite likely it would have been the ...

Re: The RAAF Hudson Story - Book Two
Good onya, Bob. I'm itching to read it but have five books to get through before it. Need to get my act together. Have to bump Kane-Maguire's Desert Scorpions up the list too.

The RAAF Hudson Story - Book Two
Anyone take advantage of the pre-publication offer and now has this rather magnificent book in their hot little hands? It is an epic work and has set quite the benchmark, I reckon.

Re: New Book on Coastwatchers
That's a shame, Joad. Sounds quite annoying and disappointing considering the pedigree of the author. Simple things like getting a Catalina wrong is, really, unforgivable. I recently finished Ernest C Ford's My New Guinea Diary and was disappointed that the man's story of his WW2 flying career was m...

Re: Aircraft Showcase - Pacific Theatre: Temora Aviation Mus
Cheers, Darryl, I'd have to agree with you there especially since the Hudson is by far and away my favourite. Mind you, I'll be sorely tempted when the Beaufort flies.

Well, that took a while. Have just organised some pics from the March 19 flying day so will put these up instead. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e242/Andyinwestoz617/small190311131.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e242/Andyinwestoz617/small190311138.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e242...

Re: New Book on Coastwatchers
It looks good. I picked up my copy (in Australia) from Big W as I keep an eye on that and Kmart for books of this genre as they are generally a fair bit cheaper than the big bookstores. Have to be quick though as they don't seem to keep them in stock for long.

Aircraft Showcase - Pacific Theatre: Temora Aviation Museum
The museum is holding its final showcase of the year and featuring the collection's Hudson and Spitfire and Alan Arthur's Kittyhawk. I'm planning on going so will hopefully get some shots worthy of posting on here.

It's a superb-looking book - colour maps, lovely aircraft profiles and a tonne of detail. Looking forward to reading it next.

Re: What Pacific based book are you reading at the moment?
While we were away on holiday I read Michael Olson's Tales From A Tin Can - the USS Dale from Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay. A good read indeed with lots of memories from crewmembers throughout Dale's career.
Hornfischer's Last Stand Of The Tin Can Sailors is still the benchmark for me.

Re: Memoir of C-47 Pilot Maj. Earnest C. Ford 6th TCS
I'm reviewing this book for ABR shortly. A bit different to my usual RAF and Commonwealth titles but it'll be interesting to read about the author's ops supplying the Australian units.
